ARUTANGA, AITUTAKI HARBOUR :
1. LOCATION: Arutanga is located on the Western side of the Island in position 18o 51’ South 159o’West.
2. CHARTS: New Zealand Chart No. 9755 – Aitutaki
3. DOCUMENTS REQUIRED UPON ARRIVAL:
a. Health:
i. International Maritime Declaration of Health.
ii. 1 Passenger List.

i. 2 Manifests of Cargo showing weight or measurement (basis on which freight calculated).
ii. 2 Crew Lists.
iii. 2 Passenger Lists (landing and transit).
iv. Each disembarking passenger to complete a landing card and baggage declaration.
v. Clearance from Last Port.

4. CERTIFICATES: Certificates of the Cruise Boats Registration will be required in the event a Port State Control Inspection is undertaken
5. ISPS COMPLIANCE: Aitutaki is an ISPS compliant Port. Vessels are to advise ETA at least 48 hours prior to arrival, updated 24 and 12 hours prior to arrival. At 48 hours vessels are to provide
6. A crewlist and a list of the last 10 Ports visited to the Harbourmaster
7. DENSITY: 1025.
8. RESTRICTIONS: The Port operates for vessel movements from Sunrise to Sunset and is only open for movements outside these times at the Harbourmaster’s discretion. Anchorage, in 10 fathoms, is well defined on chart NZ955.
9. BRIDGES: N/A
10. ARRIVAL: Vessels arriving from overseas requiring free pratique should, not later than 12 hours and not earlier than 24 hours before arrival, inform the port Health Officer/Inspector of the following by radio:
a. Ports of call during the past 15 days (inclusive)
b. Particulars of all infectious disease onboard including any in which there has been recovery from, in the 7 days prior to arrival.
11. APPROACHES: The cruise boat can not enter the harbour as the harbour has not been developed to to accommodate large vessels of this type.

19. CRUISE FACILITIES: Cruise ships normally anchor outside the reef and ferry passengers ashore by tender.

22. CARGO OPERATIONS: Are conducted as required by the Ports Authority and the Shipping Agent. Normal hours are 0800 to 1600 Mon to Fri and 0800-1200 Sat. However work is undertaken outside these hours by arrangement with Harbour Master.
23. CRANES: One 25 tonne crane and one 15 tonne forklift

26. BALLAST: Ballast is not permitted to be pumped overboard within the Port limits, No ballast reception facilities available
27. POLLUTION: Swift action is taken against all forms of pollution and a pollution control plan is in force for the port
28. WASTE DISPOSAL: Collection service not available.
29. SLOPS DISPOSAL: Very limited slops disposal by arrangement with Ports Authority.
30. MEDICAL: Medical and hospital facilities available. International vaccinations/inoculations required depending on prior ports of call.
31. FRESH WATER: Available at berth.
32. FUEL: N/A? Automotive diesel distillate available for delivery by trucks and can be arranged through agent. Due to limited storage facilities, as much notice as possible should be provided.
33. SHIP SHORE SERVICES: There are no ship-to-shore services available as a regular daily schedule.
34. STORING: Storing is available by truck to the wharf after the truck has been searched and cleared at the main gate. Forklift trucks and local riggers can be used to assist with storing.
35. Arrangements for storing can be made through the local agent. Vessel at anchor can be stored by boat.
36. SERVICES: Very limited in nature
37. NEAREST DRY DOCK: Nearest docking facilities available in Rarotonga, Papeete French Polynesia and Auckland New Zealand

46. LOCAL HOLIDAYS: Cargo cannot be worked on any Sunday or on Good Friday and Christmas Day. Other Holidays: Boxing Day (26th December); New Year’s Day; Easter Monday; ANZAC Day (25th April); Queen’s Birthday (1st Monday in June); Constitution Celebrations (4th Monday in July).
47. DELAYS: Normally there is no delay in berthing. Only reason for delay would be another vessel occupying the berth.
48. CONSULS: France, New Zealand and United Kingdom are represented, but on the island of Rarotonga.

52. CUSTOMS ALLOWANCES:
a. Tobacco Allowance: 200 cigarettes, or half pound tobacco or 50 cigars.
b. Wine and/or Spirit Allowance: Allowance is 1 opened bottle of either wine or spirits, or a reasonable quantity of beer per person, for consumption on board. Under no circumstances may any wines, spirits or beer be brought ashore.

54. REPATRIATION: Confined to repatriation of crew landed for hospitalisation.
55. PASSPORT / IDENTIFICATION CARDS: All passenger & crew disembarking the vessel are required to have photographic identity provided by the company. The ship is to provide the gatehouse with a passenger & crew list prior to allowing shore leave and persons without ID and not on the passenger / crew list will be refused entry to the Port.

57. GENERAL: Bananas available at times. Green vegetables are sometimes difficult to obtain. Oranges, lemons, mandarins available March-August, pineapples November-February.
58. DEVELOPMENTS: The port is currently being reviewed to be developed to cater for larger vessels within the next 5 years. TOn completion ships up to 120 metres in length and a 7.0 metre draft will be able to use the harbour.
